20-Year Permanent Residence Permit

Criteria

Occupation Permit or Residence Permit holders have the privilege to apply for a 20-year Permanent Residence Permit (PRP) if they fulfil the specified conditions outlined below:

Investor

Individuals holding an Occupation Permit (OP) as an Investor for a continuous period of at least 3 years immediately preceding the PRP application date must demonstrate either:

  • A minimum annual gross income of at least MUR 15 million for the 3 years preceding the application, or

  • An aggregate turnover of MUR 45 million over any consecutive 3-year period during their current permit.

Professional

Individuals holding an Occupation Permit (OP) as a Professional or a valid Work Permit for a continuous period of at least 3 years are eligible for a PRP if they maintain a basic monthly salary of at least MUR 150,000 for three consecutive years preceding the PRP application. The application must be submitted within 6 months of meeting the specified criteria.

Self-employed

Individuals under the Self-Employed Occupation permit for a minimum of 3 years qualify for a Permanent Residence Permit (PRP) if they can demonstrate an annual business income of at least MUR 3 million for three consecutive years preceding the PRP application. The application must be submitted within 6 months of meeting the specified criteria.

Retired non-citizen

Individuals who have held a Residence Permit (RP) as a Retired Non-Citizen for a minimum of 3 years qualify for a Permanent Residence Permit (PRP) if they have made a transfer of at least USD 54,000 or its equivalent in freely convertible foreign currency over the preceding 3-year period.

Permanent Residence Permit (PRP) under qualifying activities:

Invests at least USD 375,000 in a qualifying business activity. These sectors for investment include, but are not limited to, life and health sciences, technology, ICT, fintech, biotechnology, nano technology, light manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and design. Agro-based industry, Audio-visual, Cinema and Communication, Banking, Construction, Education, Environment-friendly and green energy products, Financial Services, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Freeport, Information Technology, Infrastructure, Insurance, Leisure, Manufacturing, Marina development, Tourism and Warehousing, Initial Public Offerings

Duration

Maximum 20 years renewable
